Carson Mumford quickly got his hands on a pair of number one plates at the beginning of the 2018 season, taking the top spot in both 250 B and Schoolboy 2 at Spring A Ding Ding. The Honda rider added to his championship tally at the FMF California Classic with two more titles in the B class in addition to an overall victory in Open B at Mammoth Motocross. Mumford claimed the third Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motocross title of his career in the 250 B Limited class before making his A class debut at The Motoplayground Race at Ponca City, finishing both 250 A and Open Pro Sport on the overall podium.
